CHINESE IMMERSION PRINCIPAL


Preferred Qualifications and Qualities

  1. Valid Teaching License
  2. Minimum MA degree in Educational field
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience
  4. Work experience in international school and/or international academic program for Chinese nationals
  5. Depth of knowledge and experience in school administration & teaching
  6. Demonstrated interest or successful experience in leadership roles
  7. Well versed in standards-based curriculum design and reporting preferred
  8. Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  9. Open-minded, approachable, energetic, organized, and efficient
  10. Student focused
  11. Mission-driven

Position Overview

NCIC-Immersion is looking for a highly collaborative individual to ensure the implementation and further development of a high-quality dual language immersion program by:

  1. Providing and supporting appropriate professional development plans for high quality teaching and delivery of the Chinese National Curriculum.
  2.  Supporting and monitoring the ongoing teaching, learning, and curriculum development practices in delivery of the Chinese National Curriculum school-wide.
  3. Taking a lead role in the continued development of a strong learning culture based on shared learning principles and a common learning language.
  4. Regularly communicate and model the school’s mission and beliefs to the school community and promote a visible partnership between the school, home and community.

The Chinese Immersion Principal reports to the Director on all issues concerning the Chinese program, implements policies as set by Director and Board, and makes recommendations for policies and/or procedural changes. The Principal will directly supervise all aspects of the Chinese Program including curriculum, policies, procedures, student-parent services, admissions, staffing, evaluation and general administration.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific tasks include but are not exclusive to the following:

  1. Together with the Leadership Team; plan, supervise, operate, and evaluate the implementation of our educational
  2. Together with the Leadership team; design in-service activities and professional
  3. Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as
  4. Provide support in analyzing student assessment data for the Chinese program, in connection to the school’s learning
  5. Assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment
  6. Provide feedback and support for classroom management
  7. Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues for the Chinese
  8. Lead teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standard curriculum and
  9. Guide grade level teams in standards-based grading and reporting and proofread quarterly report cards.
  10. Plan for, support, and monitor a smooth transition between grade

Community Relations
  1. Serve as school representative to all relations related to the Education Bureau and public
  2. Contribute to monthly and weekly school
  3. Communicate school’s mission to the community and encourage parent involvement.
  4. Attend meetings with the school Parent Volunteer
  5. As needed, conduct focus-group and workshops with 

School Organization / Operations
  1. Supervise curriculum archival and Report generation in conjunction with the Leadership Team
  2. Coordinate the review adoption and purchasing of resources, textbooks, and other instructional materials for the Chinese
  3. Assist the Director with the accreditation
  4. Assist the Director I n interviewing, selecting, and orienting new
  5. Assist the Director with observing employee performance, recording observations and serving as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal
  6. Supervise operations in Director’s
  7. Assist in planning daily activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular
  8. Oversee after school activities and school
  9. Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice
  10. Contribute to revisions of student and staff
  11. All other school duties as assigned by
